Grace loves...

This morning I heard Grace repeating, "yes" (while holding her arm in the air) with some mumbling inbetween. It took me a minute but I quickly understood what she was saying.

Love Mommy, yes!
Love Daddy, yes!
Big Daddy, yes!
Gigi and Nonnie, yes!
Love Crewe, yes!
Annana, yes!
Unk-J, yes!

There's no telling who I missed before I really began listening to what she was saying.

We ask her "Do you love ____?" and she always throws her arm up and says, "yes!"

Today she was having the full conversation on her own! Precious!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Grace!

Two years ago today my life was forever changed. For the better. I can't imagine my life any other way than having my baby girl by my side.

I wish I could keep you at this age forever. Someone told me that I'd say that for a while that it just keeps gettin better. Either way, I dont want you to grow up.

Never Grow Up
by: Taylor Swift
Your little hands wrapped around my finger
And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter 'cause you're dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light

To you, everything's funny
You got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have, honey
If you could stay like that

Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple

I won't let nobody hurt you
Won't let no one break your heart
No, no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up, never grow up

You're in the car on the way to the movies
And you're mortified your mom's dropping you off
At 14, there's just so much you can't do
And you can't wait to move out someday and call your own shots

But don't make her drop you off around the block
Remember that she's getting older, too
And don't lose the way that you dance around
In your PJs getting ready for school

Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple

No one's ever burned you
Nothing's ever left you scarred
And even though you want to
Just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother's favorite songs

I just realized everything I have
Is someday gonna be gone
So here I am in my new apartment
In a big city, they just dropped me off
It's so much colder than I thought it would be
So I tuck myself in and turn my night light on

Wish I'd never grown up
I wish I'd never grown up
Oh, I don't wanna grow up, wish I'd never grown up
Could still be little
Oh, I don't wanna grow up, wish I'd never grown up
It could still be simple

Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh, darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple

Won't let nobody hurt you
Won't let no one break your heart
And even through to you want to
Please try to never grow up

Don't you ever grow up
(Never grow up)
Just never grow up

2005 Meredith College Class Day

I was cleaning out a chest this week and found this photo of me and my family from my Class Day. I had to scan it in because I wasn't digital back then. :)

Today we're celebrating Grace's second birthday with family and friends. Her actual birthday isn't until tomorrow but today's the day we chose to celebrate.

Today, I'm also thinking about my alma mater, Meredith College. This week they have been celebrating commencement week and celebrating the Class of 2011. Meredith College was an amazing place to go to college. One of the best things about Meredith aside from class size and beautiful campus, were its many traditions. On the Saturday of commencement weekend. Sophomores honor their senior "big sisters", and the seniors highlight their College years in an event called "Class Day".

The little sisters spend the morning constructing two 75–100 foot daisy chains to be used for the afternoon’s Class Day exercises in the beautiful amphitheater. The white-clad sophomores hold two daisy chains and sing as their sister class marches through the chains. Class historians recall and depict key events of the graduating class’ four years at Meredith. The sophomore and alumnae sister classes sing traditional songs to the seniors. The members of the odd year classes wear black gloves on their left hands and give their little sisters wish bone charms for luck. The even classes give their little sisters bags of sticks and stones “to protect them from the Odd Spirit’s bones.”

At the conclusion of Class Day, the sophmores and the chains form the class numerals of the graduating class. The seniors then go onto the island, form a circle around the numerals, and celebrate with their classmates.

Just wanted to take a minute and say congrats to the class of MC 2011! I'm so excited that Haley will be there next year so I have excuses to go back and visit campus! :)

Fins to the left...

A couple of weeks ago Andy & Brooke came to Raleigh and we went to see Jimmy Buffett in concert. Buffett is always an awesome concert and we were excited to show Andy & Brooke just how good his concerts are! We all had a great time!

The "Landshark" beer Shark (golfcart) that rode by us.

Some people go all out. You'd have to pay me a lot of $ to wear this. Dont know who she is but had to get a photo. True parrothead.

Jump, Jump

Grace loves to jump and loves a trampoline. So we got her one of the My First Trampolines that are small, low to the ground, and have a full enclosure.

Here's a picture of her and her Daddy in the beginning stages of getting it together...

Big helper...

Unfortunately the darn thing still isn't finished. I did as much as I can but am lacking four hooks. Those things are tough. Hopefully we can get it finished next week and then I'll have some pictures for you to see of her actually jumping! :)
