Owen Grady Spruill

My best friend, Bridget, her husband Stephen, and her step-son Stephen Jr. welcomed a new addition to their "Spruill Clan" on February 9th. They waited to find out the sex of the baby until birth and we were all excited to welcome a baby boy! After a long day of labor and no progression he was delivered via c-section at 8:16pm, weighing 8lbs. 7oz. and was 21.5 inches long.

I just love this picture...
Proud Daddy sweeping Owen off to finally have some time with his Mommy. I didn't get to see Bridget after the c-section, so Grace and I ventured back to Edenton this morning to spend a few minutes with them before heading back to Raleigh.

9 months

Our baby girl is 3/4 of a year old and continues to amaze me every. single. day! In honor of her 9 month birthday, I thought I'd continue the facts from last month and do 9 new ones for this month!

1* Grace has a lot of non-verbal cues. She continues to blow kisses, waves sometimes, and has now begun to shakes her head no when she doesn't want something.

2*Just within the last few days she's getting up on her knees and getting her belly off of the floor. She's realized this is easier for her to reach up on things and then pull up on them. She easily gets frustrated when pulling up especially if you're right there watching her.

3*She has begun to show some signs of fear or shyness around strangers, but still very little. Usually it's a male that she tends to shy away from.

4*Her pacifier continues to be her security object.

5*We go to the doctor on the 19th for her 9 month well visit. I can't wait to see how much she's grown!

6*She prefers real food over baby food these days, but I still give her mainly baby food, those little pieces still freak me out for fear of choking, but I do let her try lots of new things. Diced apples tends to be her choice of food at the moment. She also loves those Gerber cheddar lil' crunchies.

7*She's getting the hang of going from a laying to sitting position, it still takes her a while, but she's doing it much more often now.

8*She's attracted to cords. If there is a cord in the room she'll find it (as well as any other small object that lingers). There can be tons of toys in the floor but if a cord catches her eye, she's on her way.

9*Last but not least, she loves to snuggle in the mornings and evenings after bath time. During these times she loves to read the book, God Knows All About Me. Her expressions are priceless when we read it.

Snow Day #1

Saturday morning after we slept in and enjoyed the snow from inside, we decided it was time to venture out so Grace could experience her first snow!

We weren't out long because it started sleeting, so we headed back in to warm up!
